The vision of Truly Ministries Inc. is to significantly contribute to the development of families in crisis and at-risk youth in our community who are between the ages of 12-16. Through a series of Family Enrichment classes we educate, encourage and assist fathers and mothers in becoming knowledgeable of and assuming responsibility for the nurturing, growth, and developmental needs of their families.
Our primary goal is to provide youth and parents with the knowledge, skills and support necessary to promote positive and stronger family relationships.
Troy D. Truly, Sr., Pastor/Chairman/CEO, is a proven warrior in the army of the Lord, a committed leader, an exceptional trainer, and a man of character. He has a passion for helping married and unmarried couples, children in crisis and their families.
Troy Dean Truly, Sr., is a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi and a 1981 graduate of Warren Central High School. He joined the United States Armed Forces soon after graduation and served his Country for 10 years at various U.S. Army Bases in the United States and West Germany.
He was forced to retire and end his military career early because of an accident. After retirement, he moved his family back to Vicksburg and started focusing on helping people. He attended a National Center for Fathering Conference and upon completing the “7 Secrets of Effective Fathers” and the “Connecting With Your Kids-I CANS” he realized he had found his niche’ in life.
He soon became the Program Manager for the Fatherhood Initiative program at Vicksburg Family Development Services, Inc. During his tenure as Program Manager he conducted several Responsible Fatherhood conferences and workshops, trained other men to become mentors and was also invited to conduct a 2-day conference for Dr. Barbara King at the Hillside Chapel and Truth Center in Atlanta, Ga.
Troy accepted his calling into the Ministry in June 1999. He is an ordained minister of the Gospel who has made a decision to devote his life to serving God.
He has received numerous speaking awards and certificates over the past few years from organizations such as Les Soeurs Charmantes and Omicron Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha. His studies at the Mississippi Baptist Seminary include A Survey of the New Testament, Evangelism, Christian Education and Pastoral Care & Counseling. Along with his Seminary training, Troy has also completed training in Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training and Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training of Trainers from CSAP’s Southeast CAPT in Greenwood, Mississippi. He also attended various statewide Fathering Conferences and the “Look Into The Future” conference in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Known to the children in the various schools within Mississippi and Louisiana as “Coach Truly”, he is currently the COO (Chief Operations Officer) for the Champions Within Program. Troy thoroughly supports any and all programs geared towards re-building families in crisis and improving the well being of children.
Joan M. Truly, Treasurer, is committed to helping married and unmarried couples, children in crisis and their families.
Joan has over 25 years of Federal Government experience. She is a Budget Analyst and Certified Financial Manager at the Engineering Research & Development Center. She also serves as Treasurer for the Great River Chapter of the American Society of Military Comptrollers.
She is a former Deaconess, Assistant Teen Sunday School teacher, Co-Director of the Debutante Society ministry, New Members Transitional Ministry Head and Administrative Assistant to the pastor of Triumph MB Church.
Her studies include A Survey of the New Testament at the Mississippi Baptist Association, courses in Economics I & II, General Psychology, Introduction to Business and College Accounting at Hinds Community College, Accounting & Budgeting, Basic, Intermediate & Advanced Microsoft Powerpoint, Consideration of Others, Advanced Managerial Accounting, Fiscal Law & Appropriations Law, Introduction to Federal Budgeting, Finance & Accounting, Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Execution (PPBES), Basic Statistics, Leadership & Management Skills for Non-Managers and GSA Smart pay Government Credit Card through the USDA Graduate School and Managment Concepts training facilities.
